Class Descriptions
Combo classes are the perfect class for children aged three to six. These classes are forty-five minutes in duration and take place once a week. In these classes, students will focus on ballet and tap technique. On certain occasions the instructor will get out the mats and some tumbling technique will be learned. These classes perform both a ballet and a tap routine at our spring production.
Tumbling classes are offered to students who wish to learn tumbling technique. These classes are held once a week and are forty-five minutes in duration. In these classes students will perfect their tumbling skills such as back bends, tuck and dive rolls, hand stands, and both forward and back handsprings.
Irish step classes are offered to students who wish to learn traditional Irish step dancing. Students begin learning in the Irish soft shoes, gillies, and eventually graduate onto the Irish hard shoes.
Ballet technique classes are classes that are one hour in duration and focus solely on ballet technique. These classes do not participate in the spring production as they do not learn a recital dance. The goal is for students to gain strength and knowledge in ballet and dance. We strongly encourage all of our competition students to attend the ballet technique, however they are not mandatory or required.
Extreme ballet classes are ballet technique classes. They are one hour in duration and are a more intense ballet technique class. Students are required to wear a black leotard, pink tights, and hair must be worn in a bun. These classes further the student's knowledge in classical ballet and dance technique. This class is offered for students who are very serious in their dance education and wish to be challenged. Again, all competition students are encouraged to take this class, but it is not mandatory or required.
Breakdancing classes are offered to students who wish to learn how to break and pop. Breakdance is a form of hip-hop and includes mostly ground work and focuses on tricks like the windmill and the freeze. The class is offered once a week for a forty-five minute duration.
